Coach & Minibus Hire in Germany

Stuttgart Minibus Hire for Castles, Lakes and Car Museums

Stuttgart sits in a valley ringed by vineyards, with the Swabian Alb, the Black Forest and Lake Constance all within a day's drive. A minibus with a driver suits a family, a club or a group of friends who want to see more than the city.

Sticker and diesel, explained

All of Stuttgart is an Umweltzone, so every vehicle needs a green sticker, including those registered abroad; the city can send one by post or e-mail before your trip.

Diesel rules come on top. Diesels of Euro 4 or older are banned across the city, and in the inner zone, which takes in the valley basin plus Bad Cannstatt, Feuerbach and Zuffenhausen, diesels up to Euro 5 are banned too. In practice a diesel minibus or coach needs Euro 6 for the centre, so ask about the emission class when you book.

Car museums and the Wasen

The Mercedes-Benz Museum has set-down places on Mercedes-Jellinek-Straße, approached clockwise, plus seven coach spaces. The Porsche Museum, closed on Mondays, has five coach places for its visitors; its underground car park stops at 2.10 m, too low for a high-roof minibus.

In the centre there are a few short-stay places, such as four at the Altes Schloss on Münzstraße and seven near the Hauptbahnhof on Jägerstraße. The largest coach park is the Cannstatter Wasen, with about 200 places, though the Volksfest and big events take up much of it.

Castles, lakes and forest

Burg Hohenzollern is about 88 km away. Coaches park beside the upper car park, and from there a shuttle bus, included in the castle ticket, climbs to the gate; walking up is steep and takes about 25 minutes; let the visitor centre know you are coming. Schloss Lichtenstein is about 57 km.

The palace at Ludwigsburg, about 16 km, has free coach parking within walking distance. For a long day, Insel Mainau on Lake Constance is about 179 km, two and a half hours each way, and Triberg in the Black Forest about 126 km. In ice or snow on those hill roads, winter tyres are compulsory.

Trains, flights and the Christmas market

From the Schlossplatz to Stuttgart Airport is about 13 km, around 20 minutes. The Hauptbahnhof is a building site for Stuttgart 21 but stays in use; the old terminus will serve trains for years yet.

The Weihnachtsmarkt runs from 25 November to 23 December 2026. Recently, coaches have set down at Börsenplatz, where there are toilets, then parked free at the Cannstatter Wasen; the year's plan is confirmed when you book.

Questions travellers ask

Can we visit the Cannstatter Volksfest by minibus?

Yes, though space is tight. During the festival only a limited number of coach places is available on P9 and P10, reserved with the car park, so book early.

Can we take children to the Wilhelma?

Yes. The zoo sells group tickets from 15 paying people with no booking needed, and a coach bringing visitors may park at no charge across from the Wilhelma-Parkhaus.

How far is Europa-Park?

About 176 km, roughly two and a quarter hours each way. With the daily cap of 9 hours' driving for the driver, plan to leave the park on time rather than at closing.
