Met at Frankfurt Airport, then on to the city or the Rhine
Frankfurt Airport has a brand-new terminal and another closed for years of refurbishment, so a little planning goes a long way. Tell us your flight and your terminal, and a minibus with driver from a licensed partner meets you where it is allowed to stop.
Which terminal are you landing at?
Since spring 2026 Frankfurt has a new Terminal 3, while Terminal 2 shut its doors to passengers in June for a refurbishment lasting years. Airlines are still moving between buildings, with another big move planned for summer 2027, so the only reliable guide is the terminal printed on your booking. Send it to us together with the flight number.
If you land at Terminal 3, the free SkyLine train takes about 8 minutes to Terminal 1. With suitcases and children in tow, count on a quarter of an hour, give or take, from one door to the other.

Where the vehicle can wait
Larger buses wait in bus parking P36 by Terminal 1, a five-minute stroll from the building: walk out through Arrivals C, keep right and follow the P36 signs. Over at Terminal 3, lane P62 lets charter buses take on passengers and bags but never wait, so the driver times the pickup to your walk out.
Every multi-storey car park here is capped at 2.10 m, too low for a high-roof minibus, and pick-up parking at Terminal 1 arrivals is squeezed by building work. The exact meeting spot for your size of vehicle is agreed with the operator when you book.
Terminals at a glance
- Terminal 2 (closed to passengers since 9 June 2026 for refurbishment)
- Terminal 3 (piers G, H and J; opened in April 2026)
- Terminal 1 (halls A, B, C and Z)
Good to know: Frankfurt Airport
- Rüdesheim am Rhein is about 54 km by road from Terminal 1, about 45-50 min in light traffic.
- Heidelberg (Bismarckplatz) is about 83 km by road from Terminal 1, about 1 h in light traffic.
- Height limit in the car parks: 2.10 m.
- Pick-up parking at the Terminal 1 arrivals level is limited by building work; the airport recommends its multi-storey car parks for people collecting passengers. At Terminal 3, drop-off is at P63 (departures level) and pick-up parking at P61 (arrivals level).
- Bus lines 61 (to Frankfurt Südbahnhof) and 62 (to Schwanheim) stop on the arrivals level at Terminals 1 and 3.
- The long-distance station (Fernbahnhof) has IC and ICE trains from all over Germany and neighbouring countries; Terminal 1 is about 5 minutes on foot.
- The regional railway station is below Terminal 1 (level 0) and is served by S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 and regional trains RB58, RE59, RE2 and RE3, to Frankfurt, Offenbach, Hanau, Aschaffenburg, Rüsselsheim, Mainz and Wiesbaden.
- The free SkyLine train links Terminal 1, the railway stations and Terminal 3 every 2 to 3 minutes from 04:00 to 23:00; the ride from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 takes about 8 minutes (allow 10-15 minutes door to door). From 22:00 to 05:00 a shuttle bus links the terminals.
- Terminal 3 opened on 23 April 2026; all airlines that used Terminal 2 moved to Terminal 3 in several waves, ending on 9 June 2026. Terminal 2 then closed to passengers for a refurbishment expected to last until the mid-2030s; its underground car park and the SkyLine keep running. The airport's second-largest airline is due to move to Terminal 3 in summer 2027, so always check the terminal on the booking.
Straight to the Rheingau or Heidelberg
Plenty of small groups skip Frankfurt altogether. Rüdesheim am Rhein is about 54 km by road, 45 to 50 minutes when traffic is light, so a morning landing can end with a glass of Riesling in the Rheingau or a boat trip on the Rhine. Heidelberg is about 83 km, around an hour.
For the city itself, the Römerberg is about 13 km away, 15 to 20 minutes outside the rush hour. Inside the motorway ring, Frankfurt is a low-emission zone that requires the green sticker.
Count the luggage as well as the people
Up to eight passengers travel in a car with driver. From nine seats it becomes a minibus, and beyond roughly two dozen people a midi or full-size coach starts to make sense. Golf bags, pushchairs and wedding outfits in garment bags all take room, so tell us what is coming along.
Questions travellers ask
Could we take the train instead?
Frankfurt has a long-distance station of its own where ICE and IC trains call, a short walk from Terminal 1, and S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run into Frankfurt from the regional station beneath it. Travelling light, that works well. With heavy bags or older relatives, a vehicle to the hotel door is gentler.
What happens if our flight lands late?
The driver works from your flight number, so a delay is followed rather than guessed. Your quote explains how extra waiting time is handled.
Where exactly do we meet the driver?
The airport does not publish a meeting point for groups, so the place is fixed in advance. Keep one phone switched on after landing so the driver can reach whoever leads your group.
