Hannover Airport: minibus pickups and the road into Lower Saxony
Hannover Airport has four terminals in a row, A to D, with the S-Bahn station right below Terminal C. Kröpcke, in the city centre, is about 14 km away, a drive of 20 to 25 minutes when the roads are clear.
Know your terminal letter
Terminal D is a special case: check-in happens at Terminal C, followed by a 300 m walk along level E1. People collecting passengers from Terminal D park on the short-stay level in front of Terminal C or in P3, and a weather canopy stands for them on the east side of D.
Terminals A and B are a few minutes on foot from the public bus stop beside Terminal C. The letter on your booking helps the driver choose the shortest walk for your group.

Where a minibus can stand
A coach parking area appears on the airport’s map, but there are no published rules on how long buses may stay or how to book it. The multi-storey car parks take only cars up to 2.00 m high, and P10, the seasonal car park, has no height barrier but wants a reservation for oversized vehicles. For your group, the exact stopping place is fixed with the operator at the time of booking.
Directly in front of the terminals, the first 10 minutes are free for up to two entries a day, which suits a quick drop-off when you fly home.

Good to know: Hannover Airport
- Taxi ranks are directly in front of the terminal exits on the arrivals level.
- S-Bahn works between the airport and the Hauptbahnhof caused single-track running and replacement buses on S4/S5 in late September and early October 2026; check for further works before travel.
- S-Bahn line S5 runs from the station Hannover Flughafen, directly below Terminal C, to Hannover Hauptbahnhof in about 18 minutes. There is no long-distance station at the airport; ICE trains stop at Hannover Hauptbahnhof.
No sticker needed in Hannover
Hannover lifted its low-emission zone in February 2024, so no green sticker is needed to drive in the city. Rules can change, so this is checked again before travel.
Short trips from Hannover
Hannover makes a relaxed base for small-group outings. Hildesheim, Celle and Hamelin, the town of the Pied Piper, all lie within about an hour of the city centre, and the Harz town of Goslar is only a little further.
Questions travellers ask
Is the S-Bahn quicker?
The S5 departs from the station under Terminal C and is at the Hauptbahnhof about 18 minutes later. The airport has no long-distance station, so ICE passengers change at the Hauptbahnhof. Check the current rail service before travelling.
Our group arrives on several flights. Can one minibus collect everyone?
If the landings are close together, yes. Otherwise two vehicles, or a pickup timed to the last arrival, may be kinder to those who land first.
How long does the drive into town take?
The airport’s own estimate for a taxi is 25–30 minutes, traffic permitting. A minibus needs about the same, with everyone and every bag in one vehicle.
