Bremen Airport: ten minutes from the Marktplatz by minibus

Bremen Airport sits right on the edge of the city: the Marktplatz is about 4 km by road, around 10 minutes in light traffic. For a small group, that means bags in the hotel and a first stroll through the old town soon after landing.

How the pickup works

Bremen names no stopping place for coaches and no bus park, and cars with driver get no waiting area either. Groups are generally met inside the terminal and walk out with the driver, and the meeting place and stopping spot are fixed with the operator once you have booked.

Flying home, a quick drop-off is easy: since September 2025 the first ten minutes in Kiss & Fly cost nothing, with cameras logging the time from entry. The multi-storey P1, by contrast, is too low for a high-roof minibus at 2.00 m.

Inside Bremen's low-emission zone

Bremen’s low-emission zone takes in the Altstadt and the Östliche Vorstadt, along with a good part of the Neustadt and Schwachhausen, so vehicles need the green sticker.

For the Böttcherstraße and the narrow lanes of the Schnoor, coaches stop on the Wachtstraße, close to the Rathaus and the Roland statue on the Marktplatz. The Weser promenade at the Schlachte, with its restaurants and boat landings, is an easy evening stroll.

Terminals at a glance

  • Linked terminal buildings (Terminals 1, 2 and 3), with check-in counters 1-17 and 18-32 and gate areas A and B; Terminal 2 has its own entrance

Good to know: Bremen Airport

  • Bremerhaven (Columbus Cruise Center) is about 70 km by road, about 55 min in light traffic.
  • There is no railway station at the airport; long-distance trains stop at Bremen Hauptbahnhof.
  • Tram line 6 stops directly in front of the terminal and runs every 10 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof (about 15 minutes), the city centre and the university.

Bremerhaven and the countryside

Bremerhaven is about 70 km by road from the airport, around 55 minutes, whether you are joining a cruise or visiting the Klimahaus and the emigration museum in the Havenwelten.

Closer in, the artists’ village of Worpswede is about 31 km from the city centre and makes an easy half-day outing for clubs and family groups.

Questions travellers ask

Is there a train at the airport?

There is no railway station, but tram 6 stops right outside; one comes every 10 minutes and reaches the Hauptbahnhof in about 15. Long-distance trains leave from there.

We are heading on to Hamburg. How far is it?

From central Bremen, Hamburg is about 122 km, roughly 1 h 25 min in light traffic. The two cities pair well in a single trip.

Is a minibus worth it for such a short ride?

With cases, children or older relatives, yes: one vehicle to the hotel door beats juggling luggage on a tram. For two or three light travellers with small bags, the tram works perfectly well.
