Hanover by Minibus: Gardens, Lake and Old Towns
Hanover is greener than many visitors expect, with baroque gardens, a lake beside the town hall and half-timbered towns in easy reach. With a minibus and driver, your group can enjoy all three in one stay.
No sticker, and no fixed coach stop
Since its zone was scrapped in February 2024 (on the 22nd), Hanover asks for no Umweltplakette at all. Rules do change from time to time, so glance at the current position before you leave home.
The city does not publish a coach stop for the centre around Kröpcke and the Hauptbahnhof. The operator confirms the best set-down point for your hotel or restaurant when the booking is made.

Herrenhausen and the Maschsee
The Herrenhäuser Gärten (the baroque Großer Garten, the Berggarten and the Georgengarten) have a signed visitor car park where coaches park free of charge. For satnav, use Herrenhäuser Straße 3c; from the A2 the route follows the exit Herrenhausen/Zentrum onto the B6.
Back in town, the domed Neues Rathaus stands above the Maschsee, and the Erlebnis-Zoo lies east of the centre near the HCC. Together they make a relaxed day for a family celebration or a visiting team with an afternoon off.

Trade-fair weeks
April 2027 brings the HANNOVER MESSE (the 5th to the 8th), and in the big fair weeks rooms in and around the city go early. If your group ends up in Laatzen or near the airport, a minibus spares everyone the crowded morning Stadtbahn.
The grounds are roughly 11 km out of the centre; from the airport, reckon on half an hour by road, more when traffic builds. Cars and coaches are left in big paid car parks around the outside, so agree with the driver which entrance suits your hall.
Half-timbered day trips
A half hour takes you to Hildesheim, a few minutes more to Schloss Marienburg. Celle takes around 45 minutes and Hamelin about 50, each with an old town that rewards a slow wander.
For a fuller day, Goslar and Wolfsburg's Autostadt are both a little over an hour away, while Wernigerode, up in the Harz, needs roughly an hour and 35 minutes. Bremen and Hamburg also work as full days.
Questions travellers ask
How do we get from Hanover Airport into town?
From Langenhagen it is 14 km or so to Kröpcke; with light traffic, plan on 20 to 25 minutes. The S-Bahn S5 runs to the Hauptbahnhof too, but with luggage a minibus is simpler.
Will a minibus fit at the Herrenhausen car park?
Yes. It takes coaches, which park free there, so a smaller vehicle is no trouble.
Do we need a green sticker in Hanover?
Not since the zone was lifted in 2024. Check any other cities on your route separately.
