Away days for your club, with room for the kit
A youth squad heading to a tournament, a veterans' side on an away weekend, a running club bound for Berlin: most club trips fit a minibus or a midi-coach, as long as you plan for the kit.
Players, staff and the bags
Fourteen players with a coach and a physio makes sixteen, which is a full minibus. Kit bags, balls and a first-aid case then fill the rear space, because luggage room shrinks when every seat is taken.
If the bags are bulky, step up to a midi-coach with about thirty seats and proper luggage space. Parents who want to follow can share a second minibus, which also gives you a spare vehicle if one player needs to get home early.

Tournaments over several days
Since 2024, the rule that lets a driver delay the weekly rest by up to twelve days on one occasional trip covers journeys inside Germany as well. A week-long tournament tour can keep one driver, provided each day stays within the daily limits.
Send the match times and venues in advance. Drives between grounds are planned around kick-offs and the driver's breaks, and an overnight stop halfway can turn a gruelling drive into two easy ones.
Rules to know before the day
- On a single occasional coach trip, national or international, the driver may postpone the weekly rest for up to 12 days; since 2024 this applies to national trips too
- Required seat belts must be worn while driving
Running Berlin in 2027
Race day for the GENERALI BERLIN-MARATHON is Sunday 26 September 2027, and both the start and the finish line sit on Straße des 17. Juni. That road closes for the race, so the usual plan is a minibus between the airport and the hotel, with runners walking or taking the U-Bahn or S-Bahn to the start area.
Questions travellers ask
Which licence does the driver hold?
Up to 16 passengers and 8 m in length, category D1 is enough. Anything larger, such as a midi-coach or a coach, needs category D.
Do motorway tolls apply?
No. Buses are exempt from the German HGV toll on motorways and federal roads.
Must the squad buckle up?
Every player wears a belt wherever one is fitted. It is worth saying so before the first long motorway stretch.
Can the minibus stay with us during the match?
Yes, if you book it that way. Give the kick-off and the likely finish, so the driver's breaks fall during the game.
