Coach & Minibus Hire in Germany

Arriving at BER: from the terminal to your minibus and into Berlin

Berlin Brandenburg is easy once you know one rule: only vehicles of up to 3.5 tonnes may use the terminal forecourts. Whether your driver pulls up outside or waits at the bus station depends on the size of vehicle your group needs.

Light van or larger minibus?

A car or a light minibus under 3.5 t can stop there, and the first ten minutes are free, three times within any eight-hour window. That is enough to load a family and its cases, provided everyone is ready when the vehicle rolls up.

Heavier minibuses and coaches go to Bus Stop B, an open-air bus station on level U1. It is about 400 m from Terminal 1, roughly three minutes on foot, and about 600 m from Terminal 2, roughly seven. Follow the signs for 'Bus-stop B': the path crosses Hugo-Junkers-Ring at traffic lights, and luggage trolleys are available.

Help for slower walkers

If someone in your party uses a wheelchair or walks with difficulty, a call point at the exit of Bus Stop B connects to the airport's mobility service. Let us know at the booking stage, and both the vehicle and the timing will allow for it.

Two terminals, both in use

All flights now use Terminals 1 and 2. Terminal 2 is a separate building next door, reached on foot through the arrivals level of Terminal 1, so tell us which one your booking shows.

Terminals at a glance

  • Terminal 2 (a separate building next to Terminal 1, a few minutes' walk away)
  • Terminal 1

Good to know: Berlin Brandenburg Airport

  • Dresden is about 170 km by road, about 2 h in light traffic; Leipzig is about 195 km, about 2 h.
  • Potsdam (Alter Markt) is about 51 km by road, about 45 min in light traffic.
  • The airport is in fare zone C; a ticket for zones ABC is needed to reach the city centre by public transport.
  • Express buses leave from the arrivals level (E0) of Terminal 1: X7 to U Rudow every 5 to 10 minutes, X71 to U Alt-Mariendorf every 20 minutes, and BER2 to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, which carries a surcharge.
  • S-Bahn lines S9 and S85 each run every 20 minutes. Regional trains: RE20 to the Hauptbahnhof and Lübbenau, RB22 to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, and RB32 to Ostkreuz and Oranienburg, each hourly. Intercity trains run several times a day between Chemnitz/Dresden and Rostock via the airport.
  • The station Flughafen BER is directly under Terminal 1 on level U2. The FEX Airport Express runs from 04:00 to 01:00 every 15 minutes to Südkreuz (about 14 minutes), Potsdamer Platz (about 19 minutes) and the Hauptbahnhof (about 23 minutes).
  • All flights use Terminals 1 and 2; Terminal 2 is reached on foot from Terminal 1 through the arrivals level (E0).

Berlin, Potsdam or further afield

To the Brandenburger Tor it is roughly 27 km: plan on 35–40 minutes on a quiet road and noticeably more in the evening rush. Central Berlin inside the S-Bahn ring is a low-emission zone where the green sticker is required at all times.

Potsdam and Sanssouci are about 51 km away, roughly 45 minutes, so you could stay there and visit Berlin by day. Dresden (170 km or so) and Leipzig (around 195 km) are both about two hours away, a sensible first leg for a wider tour of the east.

Questions travellers ask

Is the train quicker?

Every quarter of an hour the FEX Airport Express pulls out from beneath Terminal 1, arriving at the Hauptbahnhof some 23 minutes later; buy an ABC ticket. For two people with backpacks it is hard to beat. With a family, cases and a hotel in a side street, a minibus is simpler.

Can the driver rest at Bus Stop B while we wait for bags?

No. Bus Stop B does not allow drivers’ rest breaks, and stays are charged by the length of time, so the operator times the arrival to your landing.

We land very late. Is that a problem?

Bus Stop B is open at all hours and has no height or weight limit. Send the flight number and the pickup follows the actual landing time.
