Dresden Airport: minibus pickups for the city, Meissen and Saxon Switzerland

Dresden’s airport is small and only around 10 km by road from the Frauenkirche on the Neumarkt. A single terminal, with the S-Bahn on the lower level, keeps the first steps of your trip simple.

Right in front of the terminal

Right outside the doors is the Hol- und Bringespur, the lane for setting down and collecting passengers. A little further, some 150 m off, short-stay PK1 allows two hours and not a minute more. The multi-storey car park, linked to departures by a glass bridge, stops at 2.00 m, so taller minibuses stay outside.

No coach pick-up point is published here. Transfer companies that work here regularly can get a parking permit for the year, and travellers without a booking can ask at the arrivals information desk, which calls taxis and chauffeur services. For your group, the meeting place is settled with the operator well before the flight.

Into Dresden

Twenty minutes on a quiet road takes you to the Neumarkt, and as Dresden has no low-emission zone, no sticker is needed for the hotel run.

  • The Bastei in Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) is about 56 km by road, about 55 min in light traffic.
  • Meissen is about 26 km by road, about 30 min in light traffic.
  • The taxi stop is directly at the terminal entrance.
  • Bus lines 77 and 80 stop directly in front of the entrance.
  • Some S2 evening trains are replaced by buses or cancelled on 26, 27 and 30 October 2026; check the current timetable before travel.
  • S-Bahn line S2 runs every 30 minutes from the station below the terminal: about 21 minutes to Dresden Hauptbahnhof and about 14 minutes to Dresden-Neustadt; on weekdays some trains continue to Heidenau and Pirna. There are no long-distance trains at the airport.

Meissen, the Bastei and the Elbe

Meissen, home of the famous porcelain, is about 26 km from the airport, half an hour away. Out in Saxon Switzerland, the Bastei and its rock bridge high above the Elbe lie about 56 km off, around 55 minutes. A small group landing in the morning can be standing on the Bastei by mid-afternoon.

Nearer still, the palace and gardens at Pillnitz on the Elbe and Schloss Moritzburg are each well under an hour from the city centre, gentle outings for a family travelling with grandparents. For a cross-border day out, Prague is about 146 km from Dresden, around two hours by road.

Questions travellers ask

Is there an S-Bahn into town?

Line S2 leaves every 30 minutes from below the terminal: about 21 minutes to Dresden Hauptbahnhof and 14 minutes to Dresden-Neustadt, with some weekday trains continuing to Pirna. No long-distance trains run to the airport, and evening services can change during works, so look at the timetable before you go.

Can a full coach come to the airport?

Yes, for larger groups. Since no coach rules are published, the operator confirms the stopping place before you arrive.

Where do public buses and taxis stop?

Bus lines 77 and 80 stop directly in front of the entrance, and the taxi stop is right by the door. Handy if one of your party lands separately.
