Munich and the Bavarian Alps by Minibus
Munich is the gateway to the lakes, palaces and mountains of southern Bavaria. With a minibus and a driver, your family or club can spend the morning at the Viktualienmarkt and the afternoon by the Tegernsee without a single change of train.
Where the old town lets you out
Coaches cannot park in the Altstadt. Instead, short-stay zones on the Altstadtring, most allowing about 20 minutes, are where groups climb in and out. Frauenstraße 19, near the Isartor, is handy for Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt and the Hofbräuhaus; Maximiliansplatz 23 is about 550 m from the Frauenkirche.
While you explore, the driver waits at a coach park such as Hansastraße 51, the main one for the centre, and comes back at the agreed hour. The Deutsches Museum has its own 15 coach spaces on Erhardtstraße.

Sticker plus diesel rule
The Mittlerer Ring and everything inside it form an Umweltzone. A green sticker is required, foreign-registered minibuses and coaches included. On top of that, diesels of Euro 4 or older may not enter even with a sticker, and tour vehicles get no general exemption. Newer diesels and petrol engines are fine.
Both rules apply until further notice. Ask us to confirm the vehicle's emission class, and check again shortly before you travel.

Lakes, palaces and that famous castle
Tegernsee is about 53 km away and Kloster Andechs about 45 km, each about an hour: relaxed half days with lunch by the water.
Linderhof lies about 97 km away and Garmisch-Partenkirchen about 90 km. Hohenschwangau, below Neuschwanstein, is about 118 km and two hours each way, which fills the whole day. Castle tickets are sold online and at the ticket centre in Hohenschwangau, never at the castle, and same-day tickets often run out, so book before you set off.
On icy or snowy mountain roads, winter tyres are compulsory: the rule follows the weather, not the calendar.
Arrivals and departures
Munich Airport is a long way out: about 39 km from Marienplatz, roughly 40 minutes when traffic is light. Memmingen Airport is about 116 km. The Hauptbahnhof is being rebuilt, so allow spare minutes when meeting a train.
Questions travellers ask
Can we be dropped at the Theresienwiese during the Oktoberfest?
No. A closed ring goes up around the festival grounds, coaches may not enter it, and setting down nearby is not allowed. Instead, groups leave the vehicle at one of the city's designated coach sites and ride the U-Bahn; the sites are confirmed for each year's festival.
Is Salzburg possible in a day?
Yes. It is about 144 km, roughly two hours. Austrian motorways charge every vehicle over 3.5 tonnes a distance-based toll with a GO-Box on board, so mention Salzburg when you ask for a quote.
Can 30 of us tour Schloss Nymphenburg together?
Groups there are limited to 25 plus a guide, so a party of 30 splits in two. The palace has 8 coach spaces of its own.
How do we plan a visit to the Dachau memorial?
The KZ-Gedenkstätte Dachau is about 20 km away, around 50 minutes. Guided tours take up to 30 people aged 13 or over, must be booked several months ahead and are led only by guides the memorial has licensed.
