Coach & Minibus Hire in Germany

Getting everyone to the wedding, and home again

German weddings often have two parts: the civil ceremony at the Standesamt and a church service or party somewhere else. A car for the couple and a minibus or two for the guests keep both halves of the day together.

Registry office first, celebration after

In Germany a marriage only becomes legal before a registrar, so many couples go to the Standesamt with close family and celebrate later at a church, a vineyard or a country hotel. Sometimes the two happen on different days.

Map every move: hotel to registry office, registry office to the photos, then on to the venue. Each leg tells you how many seats you need and when.

A car for the two of you

A car with driver is a Mietwagen, booked in advance with the operator. Once a job is done it heads back to its base unless another booking is waiting, so plan the whole day with the car in one request, including the drive to the evening venue.

For the couple with parents or the witnesses, a larger van-style car has room for as many as eight.

Rules to know before the day

  • A car with driver is a Mietwagen under the PBefG: it carries out only bookings received at the operator's premises and returns to base after the job unless it has a new booking
  • Required seat belts must be worn while driving

The last ride of the night

Guests relax when they know how they are getting back. A minibus loop between the venue and the hotels, with a first and a last departure, lets early leavers go while others dance on.

Check the venue's access too. At Heidelberg castle, full-size coaches are barred from the drive up from 19:00 until 08:00, and parking up there has to be reserved.

Questions travellers ask

How many guests fit in one vehicle?

A minibus takes up to 16, a midi-coach about 30 and a full coach roughly 50. Two smaller vehicles often suit two hotels better than one big one.

Can the car wait outside the Standesamt?

Yes, when that waiting is part of your booking. Give the ceremony time and the expected length.

Do guests wear seat belts in their wedding clothes?

Yes, wherever belts are fitted. Leave a few minutes for buckling up at each stop.

Our wedding is in the mountains. Anything to know?

In winter, ice or snow means winter tyres for every vehicle, and Alpine roads take longer. Give the venue address early so the operator can plan the route and the timing.
